Being a first-generation college student means being the first in my family to take the initiative to pursue higher education. That responsibility has challenged me to grow, step outside my comfort zone, and embrace opportunities that have shaped who I am today.
I am proud to be a first-generation because the experience has given me the wisdom, connections, and determination to help other first-generation students pursue higher education, just as I am doing now. Knowing that I can encourage and support others on their journey makes my own experience even more meaningful.
One piece of advice I would give to other first-generation students is to seek out opportunities that push you beyond your comfort zone and try something new. Some of the most rewarding experiences and greatest growth happen when you are willing to take a chance.
