Being a first-generation college student means resilience to me. It means pushing forward through challenges, creating new opportunities for myself, and carrying the love, sacrifices, and encouragement of my family with me every step of the way.
I am proud to be a first-generation college student because I am creating a legacy and going further in my education than anyone in my family has before. My journey reflects hard work, dedication, and perseverance, but it also reflects the support my family has given me along the way. I hope that by earning my degree, I can inspire future generations in my family to believe in themselves and pursue their goals.
One thing I would want other first-generation students to know is that it is okay not to have all the answers. College can feel overwhelming at times, but there are people and resources here to help you succeed. Ask questions, make connections, get involved, and remember that you belong here just as much as anyone else.
