I am a proud first-generation college student. This is a title that comes with perseverance, grit, and plenty of hard work. It means stepping outside your comfort zone, pushing towards your dream goals, and defying systematic odds. It feels exciting but sometimes intimidating. It brings an accomplishment that can be felt throughout your friends and family. Most importantly, I think being a first-generation college student means you are inspiring the next generation of students to challenge the norm, improve their lives, and bring positive change back to their communities.
