Being a first-generation college student means representing not only myself, but also my family and the sacrifices they have made to help me reach this point. While there can be pressure that comes with that responsibility, it motivates me to stay focused, work hard, and continue proving to myself what I am capable of achieving.
I am proud to be first-generation because I am creating opportunities for myself while serving as an example for others in my family and community. As a first-generation Moroccan American student, I hope to inspire those who come after me to pursue their goals, believe in their potential, and never limit what they think is possible.
One thing I would want other first-generation students to know is that college is not always easy, and adjusting to a new environment can be challenging. When doubts arise, remember that you are building a brighter future for yourself and creating a path for those who follow. Keep going—you are stronger, more capable, and more prepared than you may realize.
